Will the volcanic eruption save us… again?

Iceland at that time was still struggling with the effects of the economic crisis that hit the country in 2008. In 2008, the island was visited by 502,000 foreign tourists, but since 2010 the number has grown at a surprising pace. One of the important reasons for this change was certainly the weakening of the Ice- landic krone, so Iceland became more affordable for visitors. However, the volcano’s eruption, which was reported all over the world, also contributed to this. We joke today that Eyjafjallajökull was the best Icelan- dic PR treatment ever.
